For three years running, it has been my honor to join Make’s Digifab Tester team, with the fine folks from Ocean State Maker Mill, Hack Pittsburgh, and Digital Harbor Foundation. We lock ourselves inside for a weekend during the hottest days of the summer, to test new and unreleased digital fabrication machines for performance, design, and usability, among other things.
I’m mostly a subtractive manufacturing gal myself, so I usually end up making a mess in the CNC and laser room with Matt Dauray. I reviewed Inventables X-Carve during the 2017 shootout, the Muse laser cutter and Probotix Asteroid CNC in 2018, and most recently, Glowforge, Dremel, and the Emblaser 2 for the 2019 holiday issue. You can find all the Digifab testers’ reviews online or in print at Makezine.com.
